9ct Yellow Gold Chunky Ripple Ring

The customer came to us with a costume piece of jewellery that she loved. Being costume jewellery the plating had started to dull on the ring, and its best days were behind it, but the customer loved the design and ask what we could do.

We were able to make a rubber mould of the ring allowing us to make a wax replica that we could use to make a gold version using the "Lost wax casting" method.

Where the rippled effect on the costume ring had worn over the years, this wear had also been replicated on to the new gold version which wasn't a satisfactory finish. We then hand cut the rippled effect on to the new gold version to give a new crisp finish to the rippled effect like it would have had from new.

The customer also supplied the gold required to cast the ring in the form of broken and unwanted gold which allowed us to keep the cost down as the ring was very heavy.
